WHAT THE INDEXES INCLUDE
It must be stressed that my INDEXES are NOT the full transcript from the original registers, I have made slight alterations to the way I have transcribed them. I have included information I thought might be more helpful to people.
Information I have inserted or omitted are listed in BOLD ITALIC below.
If you have access to the original documents they must be consulted, but I will gladly pass on a full transcript if required.
The INDEXES start with ILLEGIBLE entries, these are at the top of each page, and are highlighted in RED . Where the hand writing is indecipherable or damaged by damp I have tried to discern as much of the lettering as possible, addresses and rank may help you locate a deceased person.
The ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS are divided into ELEVEN columns and these are listed below , the rows highlighted in BOLD ITALIC are the ones I have omitted, as I thought they were of no particular value.
Column 1, Number,
Column 2, Date, this is date of BURIAL not of death.
Column 3, Name,
Column 4, Age,
Column 5, Rank or Profession.
Column 6, Abode,
Column 7, Parish or District,
Column 8, Mode of Burial, Single or subsequent etc.
Column 9, Section, (See map link)
Column10, Number.
Column 11, By Whom ceremony performed, Name of minister attending the burial.
My WEB PAGES are divided into TEN columns and they are listed below , they are basically the same headings as the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS but in a slightly different order. The rows highlighted in BOLD ITALIC have been included as I thought them to be of more value.
The TWO different, but important columns that I have added to my web pages are;
COLUMN SIX , is FOLIO this is in effect the page number on the original registers.
COLUMN TEN , the last column is called CLASS NUMBER , this is the reference number to gain access to the original documents at Liverpool Library, for Toxteth Park Cemetery it is 352 CEM 9.
Column 1, Name,
Column 2, Date, this is date of BURIAL , not of death.
Column 3, Age,
Column 4, Rank.
Column 5, Address of deceased.
Column 6, Folio,
Column 7, Entry Number,
Column 8, Section, (See map link)
Column 9, Number. this is the number of burials 1,2,3 etc.
Column 10, Class Number, Reference for Liverpool library.
At the very bottom of my web pages, you will notice I have included a little footnote, ADULTS INFANTS and SETS of TWINS , this will at a glance give a quick reference to the total amount of interments for that particular year.
Transcribing these names really brings home to you the huge amount of infant deaths, and when looking back it is really quite sad and tragic.
